What is an internship?

An internship a work experience opportunity that allows students to gain practical insights into a specific role or company. It's a chance to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, develop professional skills, and build a network of contacts. Internships can range from a few weeks to a year and may or may not be directly related to the student's field of study.

Work hours and visa considerations:

The terms and conditions of your intern will vary by employer, but in as a general guideline:

Studying and working in the UK
- Full-time UK students with a student visa: Up to 20 hours/week during term, full-time during breaks
- Part-time UK students with a student visa: Cannot work
- UK Nationals: Up to 40 hours/week
Studying or working outside the UK
- Individuals studying in countries outside the UK should refer to their visa conditions for any restrictions on work hours.
