Academic Symposium 2022
December 07, 2022 - December 08, 2022
Advancing sustainable contracting
What is the event?
WorldCC's annual Academic Symposium brings some of the world’s leading minds in academia together with cross-industry practitioners providing a rich and fertile ground for innovation, ideas and new research to be born. The Symposium will be hosted on our interactive virtual platform allowing attendees to network together throughout the event. The two day agenda features thought leading keynotes, research papers and real life case studies, where contracting professionals from public and private sector as well as visionary thinkers from Academia will come to learn, share experience & knowledge.
Why Sustainable Contracting?
There is growing recognition that the contracting process has a critical role to play in delivering ESG principles. This event will examine the nature of required changes in current state and the dependencies. Following on from the tremendous engagement we have seen at the inaugural World Sustainable Contracting Day where almost 2000 professionals registered to discuss sustainable contracting - our Academic Symposium will take the opportunity to galvanise this thinking and experience, drawing on existing research and setting an agenda for the future.
Purpose
The event will examine and discuss areas where research and guidance have been produced and identify and prioritise areas where further research and guidance is needed.
Who is it for?
Academia, Chief Sustainability Officers; General Counsel; Chief Procurement Officers; Chief Commercial Officers; Heads of Contract, Legal, Commercial, Procurement and Supply Chain; Heads of Sustainable Procurement and ESG; Chief Research Officers.
Themes to be explored
- The development of standard terms and principles to embed ESG in contracts (something that has already begun)

A note on the WorldCC Foundation
WorldCC is pleased to announce the incorporation of the WorldCC Foundation an independent non-profit public charity 501(c)(3) working globally. The core purpose of the Foundation is to consolidate, develop and promote the components needed for sustainable contracting and driving social value. All that we do under the umbrella of the Foundation is and will be for the benefit of the public, accessible, inclusive, and freely available. We are currently working on a virtual home for the Foundation activities, community and resources, so stay tuned for more updates.
