We are seeking a forward-thinking Contracts Manager. Reporting to the Head of Contracts you will lead and support the business working on significant contracts in the Defence Market both domestically and internationally.
Internally you will liaise with a broad range of stakeholders at both the Under Water Systems (UWS) domain level as well Thales UK’s International Business Line and potentially Global. You’ll have significant engagement with sales, finance, project management and other business winning functions as well as UWS delivery teams. You will be customer facing, engaging with multiple customers.
You will be working as part of a team of six experienced Contracts Managers predominantly based at Templecombe. It is not essential for you to be based at Templecombe, providing you have a presence on site when required. You will have the freedom to shape and influence how the role works in practice.
What this role has to offer
You’ll use your technical proficiency to lead and support bids and contracts. You will have high profile with internal and external stakeholders and the experiences you gain in this role could support your development into a Head of Contracts position in the future.
Daily activities:
Support and participate in the business strategy, liaise with customers and provide proactive business support in the winning of bids
Prepare winning commercial proposals & quotations
Support to contract negotiation and manage contracts within an assigned portfolio
Manage all contractual aspects within an assigned portfolio with due regard to compliance, governance and group-wide actions
Draft, propose, generate & negotiate agreements, contracts, orders, proposals, quotations, changes and terms and conditions in accordance with agreed strategy and customer requirement.
Serve as a focal point of contact for customers, partners and internal stakeholders regarding contractual matters
Ensure a robust contractual baseline is established and maintained
Provide guidance on compliance with terms and conditions identifying flow down terms and risk by supporting the negotiation of major subcontracts
Identify risks & support the development of mitigation plans.
Essential skills and experience
Record of accomplishment in assessing risk and communicating management and mitigation requirements.
Excellent communication and influencing skills.
Sound commercial and business awareness
Forward leaning, able to look at the broader strategy and outcomes beyond the immediate task
Resilience and tenacity to deal with the periods of high intensity work, notably during bid activity
Flexibility to travel to other sites in the UK and overseas as required to support both Internal and external customer engagements.
A track record of successful contract negotiation and the management of change is highly desirable
Eligible to obtain SC level security clearance
